PlayGenie offers a comprehensive solution for creating dynamic playlists based on your existing music library or other playlists, with advanced filtering and sorting options. It enables users to generate, modify, and save playlists that are tailored to specific criteria such as play count, skip count, artist, rating, date added, and last skip date.

The application’s unique features include the ability to filter by "Date Added" and "Last Skip Date," as well as setting ratings for individual songs. The smart playlist generator can synthesize a playlist from up to five source playlists or the entire music library, applying customizable weights to each source to influence the final composition. Filters and sorting parameters for each source playlist include play count, last played date, date added, last skip, skip count, artist, rating, BPM, year, and genre.

Once generated, playlists can be edited—songs can be added, removed, moved, or re-sorted based on play count or play date. The option to reshuffle or regenerate the playlist offers additional flexibility. PlayGenie supports seamless listening in conjunction with the built-in iPod or Music app; you can exit the app while playback continues and stream your playlist via AirPlay to compatible devices.

Generated playlists can be saved for future use and can also serve as source playlists for subsequent generations. Users can create profiles encapsulating specific sets of source playlists alongside their filters and sorting preferences, facilitating quick reuse of customized configurations.

The software supports an extensive range of filtering and sorting options for source playlists: by artist, genre, rating, play count, last skip date, skip count, year, BPM, and play date. Filtering can extend to the generated playlist based on play date and play count as well. Song ratings are adjustable directly within PlayGenie.

The application includes several predefined smart playlists that leverage your entire music library as sources:

• All: the complete music library
• Most Played: sorted by total play count
• Less Played: sorted by total play count
• Most Played but Not Last Month: filtered by recent last played date
• Most Played but Not Last 2 Months: considering recent playback activity
• Most Played but Not Last 3 Months: based on recent listening patterns
